The nuisance race of the Willow world, they greatly enjoy harassing and playing tricks on the larger species, and their sarcastic wit is a force to be reckoned with. They are expert thieves as well, and are very cunning. Brownies closely resemble Daikinis in physical appearance, but reach an adult height of only nine or ten inches. They usually live in forest barrows, which are designed to also serve as traps for intruders. As members of Lesser Faery, they possess some innate magic, particularly the ability to imbue their weapons with a portion of their own life force, which makes them dangerous in battle.

Born in the dungeons of Nockmaar, Elora Danan is the baby foretold by prophecy to bring about the destruction of the evil Queen Bavmorda and restore the balance of Light and Shadow in the Twelve Realms. A year after Bavmorda's fall, the castle of Tir Asleen was destroyed by the Cataclysm, and Elora was somehow hurled to the opposite side of the world. Here she was treated as the Sacred Princess, but was friendless and alone in her luxurious tower until her 13th birthday, at which point events propelled her into a long struggle to fulfill her destiny.

A young sorceress of Tir Asleen who used her powers to seduce the Prince (to whom she bore a daughter, Sorsha) and to kill off the old King and Queen. Once Queen, she banished her old rival Fin Raziel, put a curse on Tir Asleen,and built the Nockmaar fortress as the new center of her growing empire. The only thing that stood in the way of Bavmorda's quest to rule the world was a prophecy which said that a baby named Elora Danan would one day be her downfall, so Bavmorda made it her mission to destroy Elora. But as she was attempting to destroy Elora's soul in the Rite of Oblivion, Bavmorda accidentally called the spell down on herself instead.

The daughter of Bavmorda and the King of Tir Asleen, whose fiery red hair she inherited. She grew up to be a fine warrior, second only to Kael in the army of Nockmaar. When her battles brought her up against Madmartigan, she fell in love, rejected her wicked past, and vowed to put an end to her mother's evildoing. After Bavmorda's defeat, Sorsha married Madmartigan and lived with him in her childhood home of Tir Asleen. One year after Bavmorda's downfall, Sorsha perished in the Cataclysm along with the rest of Tir Asleen.

One of the races of Lesser Faery. Sizes vary, although most are about the length of a Daikini finger. Normally gentle and peaceful, they are capable of frenzied mass suicide attacks when driven to fight.

A sorceress, originally of Tir Asleen. She and Prince Tanthalos of Tir Asleen were deeply in love until Bavmorda put a spell on the prince, causing him to fall in love with her instead. This led to a great magical duel which Fin Raziel lost, and she was transformed into an opossum. Raziel remained in exile on an island near a small fishing village until Willow came to her many years later. He eventually transformed her back into human form. Raziel perished when Tir Asleen was destroyed by the Cataclysm.
